This paper was presented as a policy keynote address at the Annual Meeting of the Canadian Psychological Association held in Halifax in June 2008.  It considers three major links between psychology and policy.  The first relates to the definition of disability and the associated eligibility criteria for a range of income benefits and supports.  The second key relationship involves access to psychological services and mental health education for the population, more generally.  The third substantive link pertains to the core economic and social factors that contribute to positive mental health.
