Abstract

Vibrant Communities St. John’s: Engaging Citizens and Changing Systems
Anne Makhoul, Eric Leviten-Reid and Peggy Matchim, May 2008

Newfoundland and Labrador is in the midst of an economic boom, yet several St. John’s neighbourhoods are among the poorest in the province.   This paradox presents both a challenge and rallying point around which to organize Vibrant Communities St. John’s.  This story describes the two-pronged approach community organizers will take to help low-income residents improve their circumstances.
